During the month of March, South Shore will be doing some fun activities to inspire our students' love of reading.  Our goal is to have the 4K-6th grade students read a combined total of 10,000 minutes by March 27th!  We will track the minutes read each week and display it on the bulletin board across from the elementary office.   Elementary parents will receive a reading log so students can track their at-home reading minutes.  Please complete the log and have your students turn it in on Monday, March 18!

Here is our calendar of special March Reading Rockstar events:

  • Week of March 4-8:  Read Across America Week!

    • Thursday, March 7th:  Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast in honor of Dr. Seuss’s 120th birthday.

    • Thursday, March 7th @ 2:30pm:  Reading Buddies 4K-6

    • Friday, March 8th @ 2pm:  Bob and Trish Evans, amazing jugglers, perform a “Reading Rockstars-themed” show for us!

  • Week of March 11-15:  Spring Break: Please enjoy some fun reading and record your minutes!

  • Week of March 18-22:  Another reading log will come home for this week.

  • Week of March 25-29:

    • Minutes will be tallied on Wednesday, March 27th.  If we reach our goal of 10,000 minutes, the students will have a class celebration on Thursday the 28th.

    • No school Friday, March 29.

We hope these activities will inspire our students and families to find and enjoy good books!
